lovely day

suddenly out of nowhere - 60 degrees i the middle of february. 60 blustery degrees, 60 not-entirely sunny degrees, but 60 whole degrees.

the day got off to a rocky start with a high-anxiety doctors appointment. not the appointment itself, it was just my annual check up and i have no complaints, really. no, i was starting to tweak the freak out because my 10:00 appointment was dragging later and later as the doctor would come in, chat, slip out, disappear, repeat. she kept getting paged. but the clock inched closer and closer to 11:00 and my heart began to race. good thing she checked my blood pressure first thing... see, the way the metra works, if i missed the 11 am train, the next train downtown didn't roll around until 1:30, essentially making for a worthless 3ish hour workday...

i actually squealed and pumped my fists at the sky in panic every time she disappeared.

but i made it. i actually got to stand in the windy warmth with about 5 minutes to spare on the train platform, thanks to my speedy dart from the doctor's.

and the rest of the day turned out to be pretty lovely. my brother called me to see if i would want him to buy some flowers for me from his wholesale connections when he stopped in to buy something for his wifey. that was sweet. i have a good brother. and so, to honor and amuse him, i pasted my FB profile with the link to the magic URL address that turns any website into a strip of bacon. which got loads of hilarious comments. and i won't lie, that random affirmation makes me ever so happy. i love facebook. it's like reaching out into the electronic cloud of much loved friends and getting little candy hearts from them.

gotta love a beautiful day out of nowhere, even if it did start out with being weighed and poked and prodded and having to fess up that no, i'm still not sexually active. regrettably.
