Lovely Day

So in case you haven't heard, the weather in Chicago this weekend is...um... disgusting. Highs in the 50s, windy, rainy, miserable. People are cursing as they dig their parkas back out of storage and fumble with gloves and umbrellas.

But I had a lovely long day yesterday working on flowers for the wedding of a new sweet friend. I love love LOVE to work on wedding flowers when I have the confidence and blessings of the bride to do what I want within a color scheme and budget. Really, I feel like those should be the only gigs I take from now on. The bride is a DIY Maven and she and her fiance did an incredible array of home-made decorations (see painted bottles and jars below).

My orientation to their floral vision included a handful of fabric swatches, and tour of their wedding craft room, and a look at their venue layout. The rest was up to me, and it turned out really well.  It was so SO awesome to see how happy she was with the results. If only I could be a florist and a writer! Oh, how sweet it would be. Maybe some day.
