bein' green

i meant to post this the other day, but i am slow to download (upload?) photos from my camera.

after a weekend of stewing about death and Easter and being made new, and my sister and brother in law's inspirational garden work, i decided i needed something green in my life. i thought about flowers, but they are so short-lived and i'm not sure yet of the light/windowsill situation in the new apartment, so i decided on the beginings of a succulent garden.
also, adorable plants are being used as a proxy for the dog i desperately want to get. i pet the plants and talk to them, and will probably start naming them soon.

aren't they cute? don't you just want to squeeze them and give them kisses? ok. well obviously it's time for me to go to bed.
sing along with kermit the frog, you know you want to...
its not easy
bein' green
having to spend each day
the color of the leaves
and people tend to pass you over
cause you're not standing out
like flashy sparkles in the water
or stars in the sky.
but green's the color of spring
and green can be cool
and friendly-like
and green can be big
like an ocean
or important
like a mountain
or tall like a tree.
when green is all there is to be
it can make you wonder why
but why wonder why wonder
i'm green.
and it'll do fine.
it's beautiful
and i think its
what i want to be.
