God is so good

i've been humming that little hymn in my head a lot lately.

seriously though, God is good all the time. but sometimes He smacks me upside the head with it.

could it really be possible that such a thoughtful, brilliant, gentle, funny, adorable guy is ga-ga for me? bonus: in addition to letting me take up so much real estate in his sweet heart, his heart is actually focused on Jesus. so truly that when i compliment Yale's goodness to me, or the Big Work he is conspiring with Jesus to do on my heart, he deflects the "goodness" away from himself and asks me to thank God instead of him. which in some guys would feel obnoxiously pious, but he tempers it well with just-dirty-enough-to-be-funny-but-still-sweet admissions of his physical attraction to me, and will launch into a ridiculous conversation about the philosophical flaws in darth vader's dialogues with luke skywalker in the same conversation. and the piety blurs away into the composite of a boy with whom i am totally smitten.

it's 2pm and i have done hardly any work all day. i'm zoning out into a fluffly cloud of happiness.

he asked if he could run my 7 miler last night with me, since i would have to go after my yoga class and it would be dark by then. i eagerly agreed, even though i knew it would mean that he would be driving back into the city yet again. and i walked home from my yoga, smiling at the idea of seeing him soon and getting to go for a run with him, and then there he was. sitting on my stoop with a big bouquet of bright orange gerbera daisies and a big grin.

a girl could get used to this.
