wintersong

OMG! it is FREEEEEEEEZING!

i can't even handle it. my snot was frozen to my cheeks this morning as i trudged as nimbly as possible accross the frozen wasteland to the train.

these kinds of days always make me think of Hoth, and make me wish i had my own Taun Taun.

if you are puzzling that one out, you can just say a prayer of thanks that i found an equally geeked out boy to marry me!

anyway. i sing songs to myself when i am trying to distract myself from something. like my blood freezing in my veins, for example.

and today, i was humming the only 4 or 5 words i know of the kiddy sunday school song "his banner over me is love".

because..... i spent a good part of the evening on tuesday night making Yale a christmas present. he is fascinated by all things home-made, and is gleefully putting the artistic touches on his assigned "we are only giving home-made gifts this year" christmas present from my siblings' name draw. and, he is in love with the book "song of songs" in the Bible. like, he likes to read passages from it outloud to me and marvel that that stuff is actually in the Bible. it is pretty, um, graphic in parts. and delightfully euphemistic!

so anyway, i had a hankering for a creative/destructive outlet the other night in my wad of stress leading up to this Portugal build, so i carved block print template of two trees with a banner susupended between them, clothes line-style, that has LOVE written on it in big letters. i carved it out, and made a print onto some dark green card stock. then i wrote "his banner over me is love" in silver pen underneath it, and spray mounted it to a square canvas. i like it. i think it looks nice. Roommate assures me that Yale will love it.

i hope so.

and don't you think "His Banner Over Me is Love" would make a lovely banner for a huppah for an outdoor wedding ceremony? yeah. me too.

Doesn't he read your blog? And now you just gave away the surprise of his gift.

Or he DOESN'T read your blog, and what's up with that?

Nope, Yale certainly does not read the blog. He assures me that he does not want to, and that he prefers that I have this as a personal outlet and he wants to respect that I should be able to write whatever I want without censoring myself.

Plus, I posted a picture of my wedding dress, so I hope he doesn't all of a sudden decide to snoop his way in....
