It's not that I don't like September. I do. I like it a lot, actually. And September isn't off to a bad start.
I'm just. so. tired.
My head is teetering ever closer to my desk and I could seriously konk out in 5 seconds if I let myself. I've been living on about 6.5 hours of sleep for a long time now, and it is NOT WORKING.
I don't have any excuses. No kids, no exciting late night adventures. Not even any movie watching with the Hubs. Just poor time management, a new addiction to pinterest.com, and a chronic lack of exercise that has typically helped me sleep better and sounder. Argh... I need to get back on track.
There are some great big neon signs flashing at me that my life needs some serious discipline. Like a makeover. I'm imagining hand-written schedules, strict bed times, exercise appointments, pre-packed lunches, and made beds. Sometimes it's the little things, you know? Like making your bed every day. Or keeping the bathroom sink sparkling clean.
Anyway, let's practice. Here's a fantasy schedule:
6:15 am - Wake up and either go for a 3 mile run or do some yoga
6:50 am - Shower
7:00 am - Make coffee, eat breakfast, pack lunch
7:15 am - Get dressed, put modicum of effort into hair/face (this would be a marked improvement from my current "wet hair in messy bun, minimal makeup, you-can-get-away-with-this-because-it-is-summer" routine)
7:45 am - Walk/feed Auggie, water plants, pack work bag
8:00 am - Out the door with Sock Bottle of coffee, make it to the 8:15am train.
8:45 am - 4:55 pm = WORK, which needs its own disciplined schedule, but that's for another time.
5:10 pm - Train home
5:35 pm - Home!
5:45 pm - Walk Auggie, talk to Hubs, decide on dinner
EVENINGS -
- Cook and clean up after ourselves
- Time to talk, prep for the next day, get out of the house for a walk/see friends/etc.
10:00 pm IDEAL bed time, no later than 10:30....
Geez, when you type it out it all seems so REASONABLE. And yet, I'm going to bed at midnight or so, and dragging myself out of bed b/t 6:30 and 7am depending on how many times I tolerate the Snooze button. I never have time to make coffee in the morning, I never ever clean up after my whirl-wind of work prep, and that work prep is resulting in a more and more harried "look"...
Well something besides my sleep has got to give. I'm not sure what. But I do not want to sleep through fall!
