So it has been a looooong time since I posted. But there is a good reason.
We moved to NC, and we don't have internet at our temporary house (we're squatters! fun!), and it has been ridiculously busy getting up to speed at work so I have had no time to blog during the day.
So this will be a bit of a short post, but I just want to go on record and say that this was the right move for us, and the Lord has been affirming that over and over in these first few days. Good things are afoot here, even if we are hopelessly lost every day (hello!?! haven't they ever heard of a GRID?), we don't understand the customs yet (sweet tea at every meal, all dogs are outdoor dogs, etc), and our stuff hasn't arrived from Chicago so we just lay on the floor with AugDog and watch DVDs on the laptop.
But friends, it feels good and right and hopeful. We miss everyone. I miss the lake, and knowing my way around (I've been late to meetings twice already because I got lost), and my friends, and our neighborhood. But I don't miss the cold or working in an office with a palpably negative vibe. And Les is getting some great work done, now that the distractions are few and the surroundings are completely quiet and peaceful.
I'll try to post more about our temporary house and what its like to go from Chicago to an ultra-rural small town neighborhood (we're actually living about 15 miles outside of Raleigh proper), and more details about my job and our new life so far as soon as I get some more internet time. But for now, I just want to say THANKS for your prayers and notes and emails and well wishes. Life is good. And did I mention warm?
