be my husband

be my husband and i'll be your wife
outside you there's no place to go
if you want me to i'll cook and sew
outside you there's no place to go

i'm having weirdly obsessive thoughts about getting married. i think it all started with the innocent-enough looking jcrew promo email in my inbox this morning. i should know by now that jcrew emails are NEVER innocent. do not open them. run away, screaming, with your credit cards sewn into your coat pockets. this one set me all atwitter.
for some reason i decided to peruse their bridal collection. i confess that i used to pour over 'brides' magazine for fun when i was in high school and even early college. feasting my pining eyes on lace and silk and pompoms of flowers and glittery place settings. once my friends actually started getting married, and i started attending what must now be in the dozens of weddings without my own +1, the mags lost their luster and i haven't really gone back since.

i used to have fantastical ideas of what my wedding would be like. financial and practical reality, some maturity and simplicity, and even a bit of wedding fatigue have blanched out most of my wedding day dreams. oh, and the fact that i have not even a boy friend.
but then, every once in a while, i let my mind wander. i think it comes and goes in waves, and lately it's resurfaced i think because i want so achingly to get married while my mom is around to see it. i missed dad already, i want mom to be there. and so, that giant ticking clock gets wound up again and i start to plan. you know, just in case i meet the love of my life and need to have one or two ideas lined up so we don't end up with a too-long engagement....
and so, i present to you the 3 wedding dresses that got me all wedding-pining again today:

the first two cost roughly the same as a honeymoon. the third is the simplest and the most reasonably priced. i would love any of them. once i have a tan. and a husband. so if you know of any potential candidates, do please let me know. i promise i don't have some 'wedding binder' hidden away somewhere. i chucked that years ago....

If my opinion matters, which it must as your girl friend, I say #2 and weirdly enough a guy aide at ANni's school TODAY asked me if I had any girls friends in AMerica that want to get married, he said he "is ready for marrying" and wants "mixed babies" SOrry that is the best I can do from here :) I LOVE the random story of forgetting your wallet, it was meant to happen to remind you He cares for everything, even your metra $ & grumbling stomach. Miss you!
